 Hey people,
My name is Marian D. Toma, and I am posting this to show a breakdown of my individual entry for this competition : http://www.cartridgesave.co.uk/www.cartridgesave.co.uk/3DPrintCup
The people at Cartridgesave.co.uk have come up with an amazing ideea,  to get people involved into 3d printing,by designing characters, superheroes,to be printed,FOR FREE ,on the new Makerboot Replicator 2x desktop 3d printer.
So,I got enrolled ( how many chances like this you have? ) ,and started thinking about my character; I knew it will be strong,so I started playing with silhouettes,of bulky figures, until I decided on this one
After I got the silhouette,I started working in Zbrush.my program of choice, and from a sphere,I modelled a character similar to this. Here you have a preview of the shape, after lots of modification:

I started working more on it more, and decided to change the head from a white shark,to a hammerhead,I mean, what sounds stronger than a hammerhead??

After working more on the details,I decided it was ok as it is,so I Qremeshed it,and projected the details,so I can pose it in this position :

Here I added more detail and made the tail longer,so i can rest it on the ground,to be more secure during 3d printing:

 Next,more detailing,and adding a cape :

Here is  a render of the final Zbrush sculpt :

From here on.I exported the STL file, send it to the amazing people who did the 3d printed version of it,bare in mind that this is a desktop, personal printer, not one that makes prints for money,as Shapeways or Sculpteo,so the detail is obviously less ; and I received the file, which looks like this :

And here are the pictures after I painted it,my first paint on this small scale, and also on 3dprinted figurines,it was hard, but fun :)

This was my breakdown of concepting a character, designing and sculpting it in Zbrush, then send it for 3d printing, and in the end, paint the figurine .
 Hope you like it!
